UAV Surveys

Understanding the environment is a key element to delivering a safe, efficient, and environmentally complementary project. Each of ourr projects is directly supported by our own in-house survey team enabling operator to remotely plan and rehearse complex project evolutions.

Our services are :

  • Photogrammetry Mapping
  • 3D Modelling
  • Drone mounted Ground Penetrating Radar surveys

Mounding

We specialise in invert mounding particularly on steep and challenging terrain. We utilise Menzi Muck walking excavators for projects on very steep or inaccessible locations. The capability of these machines, coupled with our experienced operators, allows us to undertake works in areas where others may struggle. Our fleet of Takeuchi wide track excavators are perfect for use in areas where low ground pressure equipment is required.

Forest roads & ATV tracks

Access is an essential part of any forest or upland project. Metsa Ltd specialise is construction of tracks in challenging terrain. Areas of particular expertise are steep and very rocky routes, rock braking, bog and construction in areas of particular natural or archaeological sensitivity.

Our engineering and survey team utilise GPR systems coupled with high resolution 3D imaging to assist clients in efficient route selection. We aim to minimise cost and environmental impact of construction by removing potential problems before we arrive on task.

Peat bog restoration, mulching & vegetation management

Metsa Ltd take a technology based approach to ecological restoration. Our ability to extensively 3D map sites, provide hyper accurate surveys and real time overlay allows us to extensively plan operations with clients prior to arriving on project. This approach allows us to significantly reduce impact and increase efficiency.

Hand felling

Metsa Ltd has a team of dedicated and fully qualified hand fellers. This squad generally supports our excavator crews with the removal of trees and vegetation when minimal impact is required.  In addition to support functions our felling team is deployed to various sites where general thinning and forest maintenance is required.

Thinning and biomass

Thinning is an important aspect of woodland management to ensure that the trees continue to grow at the most beneficial rate. Thinning is the removal of some of the existing trees to allow for the stronger trees to continue growing and remain healthy. This is also a positive activity to encourage habitat to form with the increase in light and nutrients to other flora.
